Production Chef for Unique “Farm to Table” Grocery Products Line
Make your mark creating and executing a high quality product line of ready made entrees and soups utilizing locally sourced, farm fresh ingredients. Meals For Change (www.mealsforchange.com), a unique social enterprise kitchen located in Oakland is backed by a strong PR / Marketing team and experienced culinary team to insure product success. We have already received strong interest from major Bay Area grocery retailers as well as press that is sure to drive sales.
We are looking for a production chef to work with our Culinary Team to run all aspects of daily kitchen operations, create new products, and insure consistency.
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt, Salaried, Full Time at 37.5 hours/week.

Skills:
|
Candidates must have all of the following:
• Culinary Arts Degree or equivalent experience
• Minimum 5 years supervisory experience as a Chef/Executive Chef. Will consider a well seasoned Sous Chef who is ready to make the move up
• Experience with high volume batch production cooking; 500- 1,000 servings per menu item
• Experience with from scratch production (stocks, soups, sauces etc.) utilizing seasonal and local products
• Knowledge of, or interest in, Farm to Table programs; experience with local sourcing a plus
• Experience administering the business/ financial accountability aspects of a production kitchen
• Quality Assurance experience
• Experience with product/recipe development and bench testing products
• ServSafe certified, or willing to become certified in the first 30 days
• HACCP certification, experience working within HACCP protocols or willing to become certified in the first 90 days
• Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds 25 feet
